Welcome to Hispassion.org. I am Ashley Pell and His Passion is simply me and the ministry that I do. The Lord's passion is His people and I share that same passion in my life. As a full-time missionary in the Philippines, I am partnered with David Mayyam pioneering a ministry called North Gate, based in Baguio City. I am sent by Helping Hands Inc, a ministry based in Charlotte NC and my church, the Refuge from Concord NC.
The Philippines The Philippines, a land of natural beauty, was called the “Pearl of the Orient” in the 1940’s. The people, so generous and cheerful of heart, are probably some of the kindest people one will ever meet. Converted to Catholicism by the Spanish, as a nation they now hold a belief system that is as much tribal and pagan as it is Catholic. Christianity in the Philippines has been described as a mile wide and an inch deep, keeping a shallow façade but rarely touching the heart. This is tragic, but true. There are references to the God, or religious things, on their signs, streets, and even in bold letters on their vehicles, but surprisingly it is estimated that only 2-7% of the population are actually born again believers.
	The Philippines has two extremes, city life full of the gangs, drugs, prostitution, human trafficking and many churches missing Jesus, with on the other hand extremely remote villages that are totally unreached by the Gospel.  I see the beauty and crisis in this land. There is a remnant of Believers, who are asking the Lord to restore their country and bit-by-bit they are taking back what the enemy has stolen and are seeing the Lord move in Power.
North Gate North Gate is a support ministry to the Church in the Philippines. Our Cross-Cultural team brings both a local and international perspective in ministry. North Gate’s purpose is to bring people into an encounter with the Living God that will cause them to respond to Him in worship and turn their ears to the instruction that He gives in life and ministry. The vision is to see the people of God, the Church, come together, deeply rooted in God’s word, filled with His love, and worshiping Him. The mission is to support, train, and disciple; both individuals, and churches, as well as ministries that are struggling to fulfill the vision that God has given them. The foundation is worship. Fulfilling the greatest commandment, to love God in worship, is the first priority. They believe that if anything is going to be accomplished on the earth in ministry, the breakthrough will first come spiritually in worship. Currently we are supporting these different ministries: Worship Team Training Assisting young worship teams, we offer training both technically and spiritually, ushering them into an encounter with God. High School Campus ministry Invited into public High Schools, we are addressing many of the unspoken issues of teen-age life from God’s perspective. We are also offering training in music and the arts. Developing Churches near Baguio City We bring encouragement and support to developing churches by consistent visits, discipleship and training to the members and leadership teams. Remote Churches Through multiple visits per year to churches in Tabuk and Ifugao, we bring support by holding seminars, evangelistic concerts, Vacation Bible Schools, and individual support to the church leaders. Unreached people group Isolated in the mountain of Northern Luzon, we partner with a pastor who has been ministering to the Isneg people, an unreached tribe. We have offered both spiritual and physical support to the people there and are working faithfully to see this tribe come to the Lord.
